Ethiopia pays due attention to develop tourism

Sept 26, 2005 (ADDIS ABABA) — Ethiopian President Girma Woldegiorgis announced that Ethiopia has paid due attention for development activities and promoted the country’s tourist attractions as he confered with Max Markgraf, the prince of Baden in Germany here on Monday.

The country has now fully engaged in development activities, a senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who attended the discussion quoted Girma as saying.

The President has briefed the Prince on the tourist attractions in Ethiopia including the Axum obelisk, Lalibela and the Tiya stones, among others.

Prince Markgraf on his part indicated that he had paid visit to Ethiopia previously and expressed his close attachment to Ethiopia.

The Prince has recently donated medical equipment to a Primary General Hospital constructed with 45 million Birr in Meskan kebelle of South Ethiopia Peoples’ State, it was indicated.

The Prince also indicated that he will pay visit to Axum, lalibela and Gondar over the next three days.
