Three Sudanese aid workers kidnapped in Darfur – report
Oct 1, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The voluntary organization, Sudan Social Development Organization (SUDO), announced Friday September 30 that three of its employees were kidnapped by unidentified armed men from Zam Zam camp, 13 km north of Al-Fashir in Northern Darfur State.
Speaking to the Independent Al-Ayam newspaper, chairperson of the SUDO, Mudawi Ibrahim, said the head of SUDO’s office in Al-Fashir, the finance assistant and one of the field officers had been kidnapped by armed men while working in Zam Zam camp.
SUDO said the incident has been reported to the UN, AU, the Humanitarian Aid Commission and representatives of the armed movements at the AU and that a police complaint had been filed.
SUDO, a voluntary organization created to promote sustainable development and Human Rights, organizes a number of workshops on subjects connected with Human Rights. It is also engaged in humanitarian activities by providing emergency services in North, South and West of Darfur.
