Norway donates 100m dollars for southern Sudan

Oct 3, 2005 (JUBA) — The Norwegian minister of international cooperation Hilde Johnson expressed her country’s support for the peace agreement and announced that the Norwegian government had donated 100m dollars to support development projects in southern Sudan.

Meanwhile, the first vice-president and president of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, reiterated when he met the Norwegian minister that the international community was committed to the pledges made towards the implementation of the peace agreement.

Also present at the meeting was the vice-president of the southern government, Riek Machar.

Salva Kiir also reiterated the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement’s commitment to implementing the peace agreement.
