First vice-president calls southern factions to unite
Oct 4, 2005 (JUBA) — Sudanese First Vice-President and President of Southern Sudan, Lt-Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit, has called on the southern factions to unite so as to bring security and stability in Southern Sudan.
During his meeting today with the representative of the Southern Sudan Defence Forces (SSDF), Brig-Gen Justin Akodo, at the South Sudan government HQ in Juba, Kiir discussed ways of uniting the southern factions and including them in the plans of the next phase.
In a statement to the official SUNA following the meeting, Brig-Gen Justin Akodo said that the meeting touched on the joint efforts made by all the southern factions for the sake of development and reconstruction and stability.
It also discussed the participation of the SSDF in the joint forces between the government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.
