Sudan, UN officials to meet over returning refugees

Oct 6, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — A meeting of donors who fund the UN will be held today at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum to prepare programmes on the return of refugees, discuss the 2006 work plan and, funding of humanitarian work this year and 2006.

Representatives from the federal government and the Southern Sudan government will also participate in the meeting.

During a press conference yesterday October 5, the spokesperson of the special representative of the UN secretary-general to Sudan, Radhia Achouri, said since the donors had been part of the preparatory phase their participation in the implementation of the programme is necessary.

She pointed out that the 2006 plan would concentrate on development.
