Flight security convicted with smuggling attempt in Ethiopia
Oct 14, 2005 (ADDIS ABABA) — Ethiopia’s Federal High Court on Friday convicted three flight security members charged with trying to smuggle more than 40 kg gold and considerable sum of foreign currencies in cash via the airport.
Daniel Shume, Tsegaye Ede’e and Samson Meresa were members of the airport flight security when they were caught red-handed just after they had managed to elude the security check point.
The bench’s ruling described that the convicts attempted the smuggling in a well-plotted manner.
These former flight security members were brought to justice with the criminal charges filed against them by anti-corruption prosecutors. The charges filed against the convicts were corroborated by the evidences the prosecutors had produced.
