US official to visit Sudan 20 October

Oct 14, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The US assistant secretary of state for African Affairs, Jendayi Frazier, is due to visit Sudan in the period of 20-23 October in which she will hold talks with senior Sudanese officials.

Director of the American Department at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Osman al-Dirdiri, said the visit of the American official comes as part of her African tour to get acquainted with the situations in Sudan following the set-up of the national unity government in Sudan.

He added that the visit will focus of the bilateral relations as part of the existing intensive diplomatic contacts between the two countries.

Ms Frazier was the American ambassador in Pretoria South Africa and was the special adviser.

On the other hand, The assistant to the presidency, Nafi Ali Nafi, has held a meeting with the US charge d’affaires, Andrew Steinfeld, at the Republican Palace in Khartoum.

The meeting tackled the situation in Darfur and the steps to implement the peace agreement.
