Sudan’s FM lauds Italy over peace role
Oct 15, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — Sudan’s Foreign Minister Lam Akol has expressed Sudan’s appreciation on the important role played by Italy and other friendly countries in helping Sudan reach the comprehensive peace agreement, as well as its pledge donate money at the Oslo donors’ conference.
He called for the strengthening of economic, trade, investment and cultural relations between the two countries during this important period in which Sudan is faced with reconstruction and rehabilitation.
In a meeting held today with the Italian envoy to Khartoum, Lorenzo Angeloni, they discussed issues of mutual concern in the regional and international arena like the reform of the Security Council and Italy’s proposals on the issue, as well as the role Italy could play in restoring stability in the Horn of Africa.
