US official to visit Sudan Thursday
Oct 18, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — Assistant US Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer is due to begin an official four day visit to Sudan Thursday 20 October in which she will hold talks with senior Sudanese officials.
According to the official SUNA news agency, the Sudanese-American talks would touch on situations in Darfur, implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, bilateral relations as well as issues of common concern.
The Sudanese side will raise the issue of lifting sanctions imposed by US on Sudan and normalization of relations as well as fulfilling commitments and recommendations of the donor’s conference of Oslo in extending assistance to Sudan.
Meanwhile, State Minister at the Foreign Ministry Asamani Al-Wasila Tuesday received the new American charge d’affaires in Khartoum, Cameron Hume.
The new diplomat congratulated the minister on his appointment and touched on the preparations of the visit of the assistant US secretary of state.
