Press Release of the Sudanese Popular Congress Party

Oct 18, 2005 — Dr Ali El Hag Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the Popular Congress, revealed today that his party has received information suggesting that the Popular Congress Secretary General Dr Hassan El Turabi, may be subjected to an assault in an attempt to harm or even assassinate him during his external tour which starts today in Doha, Qatar.

Dr Ali El Hag Mohammed stated that his party strongly believes that certain Sudanese security services maybe involved in such a despicable plot.

It is worth noting that Dr Hassan El Turabi’s visit to Doha is his first external visit from Sudan after his release from detention on 30th June 2005.
