Ethiopia’s CUD member put under police custody
Oct 20, 2005 (BAHIR DAR, Ethiopia) — A Member of the Ethiopia’s opposition CUD who is alleged to have coordinated for committing criminal act in Sar-midr Woreda in East Gojjam Zone, Amhara Stata was put under police custody, the Woreda Information Office said.
Office Head Gashaw Alebachew said on Wednesday that the Member, was also at large for one year and two months, after killing a man in August 1996 E.C.
He said the suspect had coordinated members of CUD to wear police uniform and disarm legal members of kebele administration and other legal institutions.
The accused was put under police custody after a fire exchange along with his arm, Gashaw said.
The suspect had served a 10-year prison term after being accused of stealing and homicide, Gashaw.
