Sudan to host African Union summit in January
Oct. 29, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir on Saturday invited African leaders to attend the Sudan-hosted sixth African Union summit to be held on Jan. 23-24, the state-run SUNA news agency reported.
High-level Sudanese delegations from the presidency will travel to the AU member states to deliver the invitations, said SUNA.
According to the report, the coming AU summit will conduct extra-ordinary discussions on issues of education, culture and science in accordance with the cultural heritage of the diverse region, in addition to issues of security, stability and development in the region.
