Sudan’s ruling party welcomes NDA participation in new govt

Nov 4, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — Secretary of External Relations of the ruling National Congress (NC), Kamal Obaid, welcomed the decision of the opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to join the national unity government.

The NDA decided to take part in the legislative organs in the centre and the states and gives its factions the green light to join the executive government.

Obaid who is the chairman of the NC’s committee on negotiations with the NDA, said in a statement to the official SUNA that the participation of the NDA in the interim government would be a real addition to the national unity government and will positively contribute in the stability and development of the country.

He also explained that the government of the national unity, with the NDA’s participation, will be the first ever Sudanese government that comprises such a wide participation from the political parties.
