Southern Sudan delegation arrives in Eritrea

Nov 4, 2005 (ASMARA) — A south Sudan government delegation headed by Justin Yaac Arop, minister of cabinet affairs, arrived in Asmara today to deliver a message from the President of south Sudan government, Salva Kiir, to President Isayas Afewerki.

During its stay, the delegation will hold talks on relations between the ruling People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in respect to the present stage reached following the establishment of the South Sudan government for the mutual benefit of both Eritrea and Sudan in general and the relations that should be fostered between the government of Eritrea and the south Sudan government in particular.

The delegation also includes the Army Chief of Staff of south Sudan, Commander Wiyay, the Advisor for diplomatic affairs, Pagann Amom, as well as Yasir Arman, member of the SPLM Leadership Council and that of the Sudanese assembly.

The delegation was welcomed on arrival at Asmara International Airport by Abdallah Jabir, head of organizational affairs at the PFDJ, and Mohamed Omar Mahmoud, director general of the Middle East and north Africa department in the Foreign Ministry.
