Secretary General of Sudan Catholic Bishops is Dead

NAIROBI, Oct. 09, 2003 — Fr Damian Adugu, the Secretary general of the Sudan Catholic Bishops regional Conference (SCBRC), who died on September 30, 2003, was flown home to the Diocese of Yei in Southern Sudan on Sunday, October 5, 2003 for burial.

Until his death, Fr Damian Adugu served as the Secretary General of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Regional Conference, since its inception in 1999.

Fr Damian who has been ailing for mere than a year underwent a kidney transplant in June 2003. Although the operation was successful, he had to undergo a minor surgery, which caused complications that led to his death.

The requiem mass for the late Fr Damian, took place on October 4, 2003 at Guadalupe Catholic Church in Nairobi.
