Egyptian-Sudanese committee meets in Cairo

Nov 12, 2005 (CAIRO) — The fourth round of the Egyptian-Sudanese Higher Committee meetings started Saturday at the Cabinet premises under the co-chairmanship of Prime Minister Ahmad Nazif and Sudanese Vice-President Ali Osman Taha.

The two-day meetings will witness the signing of joint cooperation agreements in the economic, trade and investment domains.

The committee meetings will discuss means of activating the signed memorandum of understandings between the two sides, the state-run Egyptian MENA reported.

The Egyptian-Sudanese businessmen council will convene on the fringe of the committee meetings to discuss means of activating the role of the private sector in both countries.

During the Egyptian-Sudanese higher committee meetings, which started Saturday, the Sudanese party presents its view regarding ways to promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, industry, health and services.

This would involve benefiting from Sudanese resources to help begin a partnership with Egypt, a matter which would be for the best interests of the peoples of Egypt and Sudan.

The Egyptian side to the meetings included the ministers of electricity, health, housing, water resources and irrigation, international cooperation, transport, agriculture, communications, education and higher education.

The Sudanese side included the ministers of industry, agriculture, higher education, transport and health.
