Indian president’s visit to Sudan to focus on oil investments
KHARTOUM, Oct. 10, 2003 (dpa) — Indian president APJ Abdul Kalam is to pay a three-day visit to Sudan beginning October 20, said a foreign affairs spokesman Friday.
The visit will focus mainly on Indian investment in Sudan’s oil industry but Kalam is also due to meet Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir.
In March India ONGC Videsh Ltd, acquired a 25 per cent stake from Canada’s Talisman Energy.
The deal will see India receive three million tones of crude oil annually from Sudan’s oil fields.
