Darfur rebels hand over 42 prisoners in western Sudan

In accordance with the Abeche agreement [between the government and the rebel Sudan Liberation Movement/Army], the tripartite committee has received 42 prisoners in the area of Tina [Sudan-Chad border]. The prisoners were then taken to the capital of Northern Darfur State [western Sudan], Al-Fashir.
Upon their arrival, they were received by the governor of Northern Darfur State, Ibrahim Abd al-Qadir and a number of the state political leaders.
The head of the Sudanese side in the tripartite committee, Maj- Gen Majdhub Rahmah, said the event constituted an achievement and showed the commitment of both parties to the agreement.
