Sudanese party says leader Al-Turabi not to be released before peace

KHARTOUM, Oct. 11, 2003 (MENA) — The Sudanese opposition Popular Congress Party on Saturday ruled out the possibility of an imminent release of its chairman, Muhammad Hasan al-Turabi, who is now under house-arrest by the Khartoum government, before signing the peace agreement in Sudan.

Party Secretary Muhammad Hasan Amin, in statements to MENA, said that reports on the government’s plans to release Al-Turabi are mere press speculations.
