S. Sudan northern Bahr-al-Ghazal govt announced

Nov 21, 2005 (JUBA) — Southern Sudan government has announced the formation of the Northern Bahr-al-Ghazal government which comprises cabinet ministers, advisers and governors.

The new government was sworn in this morning before the governor of the state. The governor urged them to work towards promoting principles of unity and peace, as well as opening roads to and from the state as it is the appropriate entry point for development.

The southern government has issued a decree appointing the following as the members of the government of the Northern Bahr-al-Ghazal State, government from various parties as shown below [All names phonetic]:
– Liwa Salva Chol Ayad Minister of Administration and Deputy Governor – SPLM
– Tom Atak Nwal Minister of Finance and Labour Force – SPLM
– Taj Ugag Owol Minister of Guidance and Education – SPLM
– Eng Owe John Gor Minister of Communication and Information – SPLM
– Gabriel Got Got Minister of Social Development – Salvation Front
– Husayn Abd-al-Baghi Akol Minister of Urban Planning – affiliation not specified
– Ton Aken Lor Minister of Agriculture – National Congress
– Ayan Deng Akwei Minister of Health – SPLM.

The following advisers were also appointed:
– Mr Shirito Akoth Kuwel
– Mr Peter Jok Kuwath
– Mr Akoth Kiir Ayi

The following district commissioners were also appointed:
– Aldun Ramadan Commissioner for Central Aweil – Sanu party;
– Valentine Awol Amol Aweil West – SPLM
– Deng Tinanok Aweil South – SPLM
– Kanu Ken Kuwac Aweil East – SPLM
– George Awad Nwol Aweil Southwest- SPLM

All of them were sworn in this morning before the governor of the state and in the presence of the judge of general courts in the state.

After the swearing in ceremony the governor congratulated them on the government trust in them and urged the northern regions to promote principles of unity and peace, and creating a conducive environment for the pastoralists in the two areas during the summer.

The governor also urged the ministers to work for opening roads to and fro the state – from north to south- as it is the appropriate entry point for development.

The ceremony was attended by a big number of SPLM leadership and ruling National Congress party as well as other parties that are participating in the government considering that this is the first function of its kind in the region.
