Ethiopia to support Somalia to set up satble regime – Zenawi
Nov 22, 2005 (ADDIS ABABA) — Prime Minister Meles Zinawi said the Ethiopian government and people would continue providing the necessary assistance for the establishment of stable and permanent government in Somalia, the official ENA reported.
Zenawi held discussions on the current situations in Somalia with the visiting Prime Minister of the Transitional Government of Somalia (TGS), Ali Mohammed Gedi.
Gedi said at present the existing situation in Somalia is encouraging that it could enable the establishment of permanent government in the country.
Ethiopian Prime Minister indicated that the government and people of Ethiopia have been exerting utmost efforts for the prevalence of sustainable peace and stability in Somalia.
Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Gedi briefed his Ethiopian counterpart on his recent discussions with leaders of the European Union and members of the international community.
Speaking to the press after the talks, Gedi said activities being carried out by the Federal Transitional Government of Somalia to bring about national consensus, ensure sustainable peace and establish stable government are rewarding.
He further said the international community has been supporting the activities of the transitional government towards ensuring peace and the establishment of stable government in Somalia.
The Somalian delegation led by Prime Minister Gedi included Somali’s Plan and International Cooperation Minister, Abdulrazaq Oumar Hassen and other officials of the federal transitional government.
