Arab League chief, EU envoy to Sudan discuss Darfur peace talks
Nov 22, 2005 (CAIRO) — Arab League Secretary General, Amr Musa and the European Envoy to Sudan, reviewed in Cairo on Monday, the situation in Sudan and the ongoing preparations for next Abuja negotiations.
According to the Bahrain News Agency, Musa affirmed that lengthening talks would not serve the interest of the country and the stability of civil war-torn Darfur, stressing on the need for continued cooperation and coordination between all sides of the international community to achieve positive results and help the Sudanese opt for unity.
Musa said the Arab League would continue with its efforts to help the belligerents settle their conflicts, through dialogue and negotiations and to build trust in the EU patronized negotiations, adding that the Arab League would also help with post war reconstruction efforts in Sudan.
