In a press statement to the independent Sudan Radio Service (SRS), SPLM spokesman and member of parliament in the National Assembly, Yasir Arman, says that an airport dedicated to the late Garang should be built at Hajj Yusuf area near Khartoum.

Arman says the late vice-president used to love the area and its people who, he described as, predominantly marginalized people of the Sudan. Arman was speaking in Khartoum on Monday 21 November at a memorial political rally organized by Bahr al-Ghazal University Southern Students Association in honour of the late Garang.

Politicians, youth, women, and thousands of southern Sudanese students attended the rally held at Khartoum University’s Students Union secretariat.

The SPLM’s political supervisor for the north and patron of the day, Abdellah Aziz Adam al-Hilu, urged all the Sudanese to defend and implement fully the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, which the late vice-president fought so hard to achieve.
