President Al-Bashir to leave for OIC summit in Malaysia Monday
KHARTOUM, Oct. 12, 2003 (SUNA) — President of the Republic, Gen Umar Al-Bashir, is to leave for Malaysia Monday leading Sudan delegation for participation in the 10th Islamic Summit during October 16-18.
President Al-Bashir will also participate in Malaysia at the Economic Forum during October 14-15, besides heads of state and government. Foreign Minister Dr Mustafa Uthman Isma’il, will head the delegation of Sudan for the preparatory ministerial meetings for the Islamic Summit during October 13-14.
Director of the Organization of Islamic Conference and Religious Dialogue at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Muhammad Sharif Abdallah, said that President Al-Bashir was selected as one of the eight presidents of the Islamic countries to address the Economic Forum in Malaysia.
He said that the Islamic Summit will discuss a number of important issues, top of them is the Palestinian question, the situation in Iraq, the economic conditions in the Islamic countries, besides issues of development and the establishment of the Islamic Common Market.
Ambassador Abdallah said that the Islamic Summit will provide opportunity to acquaint with the peace and development in Sudan. Sudan delegation for the Islamic Summit includes the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Energy and Mining and Guidance and Endowments.
