Syria Welcomes Sudan’s Moves on UN Investigation
Dec 4, 2005 (DAMASCUS) — President Bashar al-Assad emphasized Sunday Syria’s support to Sudan’s good offices regarding the investigation into the crime that claimed the life of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri and her readiness to cooperate with.
President Bashar al-Assad’s remarks came in a meeting with special adviser to the Sudanese President Mustafa Osman Isma’el at al-Rawda Palace.
The Syrian News Agency (SANA) said the talks during the meeting dealt with the efforts made by Sudan regarding the investigation.
Meantime, Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa discussed with the Sudanese Presidential adviser recent developments in the Arab and international arenas.
The Sudanese adviser briefed al-Sharaa on results of his recent visits and communications in light of Sudan’s efforts to reach an active and unified Arab stance concerning the pressures applied on Syria.
The foreign minister expressed Syria’s appreciation for Sudan’s good offices and underlined keenness on their success.
