Sudanese president to attend Islamic conference
Dec 4, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir is to lead Sudan’s delegation for the Islamic Summit, which is to be convened in Mecca on 7-8 December.
A preparatory meeting of the foreign ministers of Islamic countries will precede the summit. The ministerial meeting would be held in Jedda on Tuesday 6 December.
Among the issues which are to be discussed by the ministers of foreign affairs prior to submitting them to the leaders of the Islamic world are the commercial exchange, terrorism and the ten year plan for the Islamic countries.
The issues were presented by the Organization of Islamic Conference besides reviewing the important developments in the Islamic world and means of boosting cooperation among its countries.
The First Extraordinary Summit was held in Islamabad in 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence. The Second Extraordinary OIC Summit was held in Doha, Qatar, in March 2003 to discuss the situation in Iraq.
