IRAN: Visiting Sudanese minister calls for defence and security cooperation
TEHRAN, Oct. 14, 2003 (IRNA) — Sudanese Interior Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Defence Industries Abd al-Rahim Muhammad Husayn conferred here Tuesday with Iran’s Minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani on defence and security issues.
At the meeting, Shamkhani referred to the growing ties between the two countries and said under the current and complicated situation, those having similar and identical understanding from threats resulting from unipolar trend should be united and support each other.
Unipolarism which toes the line of a Zionist minority has targeted its attacks towards world of Islam, he said.
Condemning the recent Zionist attack on Syria, he said unipolar system pursues it regional goals based on Zionists’ interest and the recent attack on Syria indicates that the current seeks to speed up domestic crisis in the Middle East region.
Referring to peace negotiations in Sudan, he wished for rapid restoration of peace to the country.
The Sudanese minister, for his part, called for expansion of defensive and security cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Sudan.
Lauding the goodwill of Iranian officials for restoration of tranquillity to Sudan, he called for further expansion of mutual cooperation to help materialize prime aspirations.
