Ethiopia discusses use of port Sudan
Dec 16, 2005 (ADDIS ABABA) — An Ethiopian delegation led by the minister of trade and industry, Girma Biru, this week visited Port Sudan, the Ethiopian Reporter said
Officials drawn from the Ministry of Revenue, the Ethiopian Maritime and Transit Services Enterprise and the Ethiopian Shipping Lines and the Transport Authority last week left on a visit to Port Sudan.
The government is trying to find an alternative port to landlocked Ethiopia.
Recently, the Ethiopian state enterprises began importing goods via Somaliland’s Berbera port.
The government wants to use Port Sudan to deliver imported goods to the northern part of Ethiopia.
