Darfur talks on wealth sharing make progress – official

Dec 18, 2005 (ABUJA) — The committee on wealth- sharing of Abuja peace talks concluded, in its meeting Sunday, discussions on Articles (2) and (3) concerning finance federalism, government relations and wealth-sharing criteria.

SLA_JEM.jpgIn a press statement to the state-run SUNA, the spokesperson of government delegation Omer Adam Rahama said that the viewpoints of the two sides were very close together.

He said the meeting also discussed establishment of Darfur rehabilitation fund, adding that this proposal at the national level.

He went on to say that the progress on the axis of wealth-sharing was a result of open discussion by all parties, expressing hope that the same progress would occur on the axis of power-sharing as some of its items are relevant to the wealth-sharing axis.

In the meantime, the Official Spokesman of the African Union, Noureddine Mezni told SUNA that the wealth-sharing committee adopted articles (2) and (3) in its agenda, leaving some limited paragraphs for further discussions.
