Moldova wants to paritcipate in Darfur crash probe

Dec 26, 2005 (CHISINAU) — The Moldovan State Administration of Civil Aviation has asked for the permission of the authorities of Sudan, where an An-28 aircraft registered in Moldova crashed on 24 December 2005, to take part in the investigation of the incident.

The State Administration of Civil Aviation’s press service told the Moldovan news agency Infotag that the aircraft was piloted by Moldovan citizen Alexandru Filippov and Ukrainian citizen Roman Perfilov.

Both died in the crash.

“In accordance with the Convention on International Civil Aviation, air crashes are investigated by the country on the territory of which the accident took place.

The Moldovan State Administration of Civil Aviation is ready to send its specialists there to help investigate the causes of the accident,” the press service said.
