Sana’a forum summit ends session, issues final communiqué

Dec 29, 2005 (SANAA) — The Sana’a Cooperation Grouping Summit, between the leaders of Sudan, Yemen, Ethiopia and Somalia, Thursday concluded its session in the Yemeni Aden city and issued it final communiqué.

Zenawi_Bashir_Yusuf_Saleh.jpgAccording to the state-run SUNA, the final communiqué has appreciated the efforts of President Omer Al-Bashir, who was the chairman of the past session of Sana’a Cooperation Grouping.

The communiqué indicated that President Omer Al-Bashir has provided the summit with a report on the activity and performance of the Sana’a Cooperation Grouping in the past period.

The leaders of the grouping’s member states have commended the efforts of President Al-Bashir in laying down down firm bases for peace with regard to the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, formation of the national unity government and achieving a peaceful solution for Darfur problem.

The summit also welcomed the endeavours of Sudan government to reach a comprehensive peace and stability in the region.

The summit’s final communiqué underscored the importance of boosting the economic integration and partnership between the member states in Sana’a Cooperation Grouping, besides establishment of a common market in the region and consolidating the cooperation between the businessmen in the member states.

In the final communiqué pointed out that the leaders of Sana’a cooperation grouping stressed the necessity of adherence to political and diplomatic solution for all the problems in the region.

They also called for solution for the crisis between Ethiopia and Eritrea through peaceful means.

The Final Communiqué has welcomed the start of the new interim Somali government to its work from inside the Somali territories.

The Sana’a Cooperation grouping called on the international community to support Somalia, so that it can direct its efforts for the sake of rehabilitation and development.

The leaders of Sana’a grouping called on the Arab League to intensify its efforts for prevalence of reconciliation and accord between the Iraqi factions and comprehensive stability in Iraq.

The Grouping’s leaders have declared their support to the just Palestinian cause and the establishment of the independent State of Palestine with Quds as its capital.

The summit of Sana’a Cooperation Grouping has declared its condemnation to the phenomenon of terrorism, which poses a real threat to the regional and international security.

The grouping called for combating to terrorism at the regions of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, so that countries at this area can enjoy stability.

The leaders of the Grouping also called for introduction of reforms at the United Nations. Meanwhile, the leaders of the grouping agreed on convocation of the coming fifth Summit of Sana’a Cooperation Grouping in Ethiopia in December 2006.

The summit’s concluding sitting witnessed the signing of agreements on agricultural, cultural and sport’s cooperation between the member states, besides an executive programme for development of exports.

The leaders of Sana’a Cooperation Grouping directed the concerned organs in their respective countries to boost implementation of the joint agreements and protocols with regard to combating smuggling, boosting the cooperation in the security field and supporting the exchange of information between the member states.
