SSDF condemns Egyptian authorities for heinous crime against refugees
Dec 31, 2005 — The South Sudan Democratic Forum Expresses Condolences to the Families of the Victims of Egyptians Unjustified Violence: And With the Strongest Terms Possible Condemns The Egyptian Authorities for Such Heinous Crime Against Peaceful Innocent Refugees
The South Sudan Democratic Forum expresses its condolences to the families of the victims Cairo Black Friday December 30, 2005, which led to the demise of over 37 seven Sudanese Refugees as a result of Egyptian police brutal inhumane and uncivilized behavior against innocent people. This is not new, for many years this has been the behavior of the Egyptian authorities against its own citizens.
This a senseless killing, we believe when details are made known, there will be nothing what so-ever that would justify leaving such huge number of people dead and injured. This is a terrible tragedy and our condolences, once again go to all the families of those who died and to the injured.”
With the strongest terms possible the Democratic Forum condemns and holds Egyptian Authorities responsible for such barbaric behavior. We also denounce the atrocious statements coming out of Southern Secretariat of the National Congress Party (NCP) in Khartoum that subsequent the Cairo incident in which they described those brave peaceful and law-abiding people as criminals and drug addicts. This is irresponsible; every Sudanese expected outrage from the NCP and not appeasement.
We also applaud action taken by the Government of South Sudan (GOSS) for closing the Egyptian Consulate in Juba. Closing the Consulate is one thing, we demand the President of GOSS, Lieutenant General, Salva Kiir Mayardit to send a high level delegation to Cairo to seriously engage Egyptian Authorities to accept formation of an independent body to investigate this heinous act and crime against humanity.
The Egyptian Government must be held responsible this time around unlike the pass when they killed our people in our soil. This is a time where President Hosni Mubarak should answer for the killings of women, children, and the elderly in Jezzira Abba in March 1970 and the silent killings of innocent Egyptians.
