Ethiopia’s EDU party has one leadership – Electoral body

Dec 31, 2005 (ADDIS ABABA) — Public Relations Head of the Ethiopian Democratic Union (EDU) says Girazmach Kahsay Dori is leader of the party. The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia also said it recognizes the EDU under the leadership of Girazmach Kahsay Dori.

EDU Public relations head, Gebru Berhe told the state-run ENA on Saturday that members of the former leadership of the EDU have been disseminating wrong information to indicate existence of two leaderships.

Gebru said the former President, Vice President, Secretary and other members of the previous leadership had been dismissed from their position.

Gebru called on members and supporters of the party at all places not to be mislead by what he called false propaganda being disseminated by the former leadership.

Civic Education and Training Senior Expert with NEBE, Mekonnen Wondimu said as the party dismissed the leadership of Dr. Kebede Habtemariam, the NEBE is currently working with EDU which is under the leadership of Girazmach Kahsay Dori.
