Sudan accuses Chad of violation and aggression against its territories
Jan 8, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — Sudan has accused Chadian army of violation and aggression on Sudanese territories, as build-up of forces on either side of the border increases tension between the two countries.
Militiamen of the Justice and Equality Rebel Movement patrol the empty town of Tinah-Sudan on the border with Chad. |
A statement issued by the spokesman of the Sudanese army, said a plane flew over the town of Kulbus, and another plane – Mirage model- flew high over the town of Tinah and crossed over into Chad.
The statement further said that an Antonov plane flew over the town of Al-Fashir in Northern Darfur State at a very low altitude, adding that this same plane had flown over the town of Al-Junaynah in Western Darfur State in the evening of the same day and crossed the border into Chad.
The statement also said that the commander of the Sudanese forces who was visiting his men on the ground in the Sudanese region of Tinah was attacked by an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) which was launched from inside Chadian territory.
The United Nations has decided to significantly reduce U.N. staff in parts of West Darfur region because of increasing insecurity and the growing possibility of a war between Sudan and neighbouring Chad.
