Egypt’s condolence to South Sudan; does it make sense?

By Chol Kezekiah kelei*

Jan 7, 2005 — It is so disturbing when all southerners learnt about the massacre of their fellow brothers and friends in Egypt. Majority of people are from South Sudan, this could be which promoted such act of violating human right because they are just southerners.

To my own observation Egyptians delegation were responding to the letter from GOSS, which forced them to leave the Southern part of the Country. It is and empty letter insulting GOSS by stating condolence and not apology. I don’t understand why the give condolence? This is a shameful statement by Egyptian government I quoted,
“An Egyptian delegation extended condolences of the Egyptian Government to the Government of South Sudan on the death of a number of Sudanese people killed in Cairo.” Who killed those people? We all know. Egypt should apologize instate of naughty ward which worth not mention.

This is a time to give GOSS good credit for having responded to such acts even though the statement it self is weak and decided to send a committee of experts to Cairo to establish how many southern Sudanese had been killed in a police action to clear protestors from outside the Cairo offices of the UN refugee agency.

Our leaders should also know that we are with them. We must say, they have started doing good job and to back them up. Youth in Juba and other towns should have protested and expel them from the South.

We should not allow Egyptians to be in South any more due to their threat to our security. Ever since Egypt never want South Sudan to develop and use resources like WATER. Why should South keep friendship with the worse enemy? If we compare Khartoum government and Egypt some will say Egypt is far worse than Khartoum, but they are all the same.

There is need for strong position by the GOSS to face Arabs in general because they are doing the same things toward SOUTH. Let us stand up for our right and we shall achieve independence.
