Sudan’s FM invited to visit UK

Jan 8, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The Sudanese foreign affairs minister, Lam Akol, today met the British envoy to Sudan, Ian Cliff.

The minister briefed the envoy on the latest developments in the implementation of the comprehensive peace agreement, the latest developments in the Abuja talks on Darfur, Sudanese-Chadian relations and the on going efforts to bring about peace in eastern Sudan.

For his part, the British envoy conveyed an invitation from the British government to the foreign minister for the latter to visit Britain in the coming period, so as to bolster the relations between the two countries, as well as discuss issues of join concern.

The foreign affairs minister accepted the invitation.

The date of the visit is to be set through diplomatic channels.
