US Methodist church to open TV, radio stations in Uganda, Sudan

Jan 10, 2006 (KAMPALA) — The US-based United Methodist Church on Sunday 8 January announced it will open up a modern community radio and television stations in Uganda and Sudan this year.

The Ugandan Daily Monitor reported that American communications experts led by the general-secretary United Methodist Church, Hollon Larry, and his personal assistant, Rev Tafadzwa Mudabanuki, arrived in the country recently to carry our a feasibility study.

They are in the country on the invitation of Rev Daniel Wandaula of the United Methodist Church in Uganda.

They will travel to southern Sudan on Thursday.

“We are here to see how to partner with Christians in Sudan and Uganda on how to pilot community radios,” Larry told reporters at Hotel Equatorial in Kampala. He said the Methodist Church has 1bn dollars to train staff, open TV and radio.
