AU backs Sudan’s prposal of African education, cultural organization

Jan 22, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — The African Union’s Ministerial Council has approved Sudan proposal on establishment of the African Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (AFESCO).

The African Union Ministerial Council, in its meeting Sunday at the Friendship Hall, assured the importance of the proposal which was presented by Sudan for establishment of AFESCO, the Sudanese SUNA said.

Suna learned that the council will submit this recommendation to the African heads meeting, which will begin Monday.

The conferees describe this suggestion as an important event that will culturally, politically, and intellectually help Africa to reflect its heritage and cultural diversity.
