Sudan delegation visit Ethiopia’s Meleke

Jan 30, 2006 (ADDIS ABABA) — A Sudanese delegation led by Gedarif province governor visited development activities in the capital of Ethiopia’s Tigray State Mekele and its environs on Sunday.

Authorities of the eastern Sudan province of Gedarif and the Ethiopian Regional State of Tigray on the occasion said they would exert efforts to enhance the implementation of agreements signed under the framework of the cooperation between Ethiopia and Sudan.

The Gedarif delegation led by Abdellrahman a- Khedir visited Mekele after taking part in the trade and investment forum held recently in Humera.

Tigray State Deputy Chief Abadi Zemona, Mekele city mayor Megistu Yitbarek, religious fathers and bureau heads accorded the delegation a warm welcome upon arrival at the Alula Aba Nega Airport.

Development projects were being carried out in the framework of cooperation agreements signed between Gedarif province and Tigray State, an official of the Tigray State Government said.

During the Humera Trade and Investment Forum, Gedarif province and Tigray State concluded agreements in investment, education, health, trade, agriculture and common security, he indicated.

Tigray State and Gedarif Province administrators said they would strive towards strengthening the implementation of the common development projects and help cement the cooperation between Ethiopia and Sudan.

The delegation visited the Obelisks of Axum, the Martyrs’ village and monument in Mekele, the Atse Yohannis Museum, the Mekele University, the Mesebo Cement Factory and Iron sheet manufacturing.
