S. Sudan’s Rumbek welcomes its new commissioner

Gabriel_Manyang_Mayom-2.jpgFeb 4, 2006 (RUMBEK) — In a strong push for peace implementation since the formation of Government of South Sudan (GOSS), the citizens of Rumbek Eastern County turned on street to welcome the new commissioner for Rumbek East Martin Majak Makuac accompanied with two others commissioners.

Joker_Ajuong_Team_in_Rumbek.jpgThe rally was organized to brief the county citizens on Comprehensive Peace Agreement and to allow them to understand the CPA. As it is the tradition, the citizen of Rumbek Eastern county have slaughtered four white bulls and both three commissioners over jumped the slaughtered bulls.

We asked one old man, why you slaughter your own properties four white bulls, he answered me saying “peace progress is the wine of death, I have lose my four son during the war with Government of Sudan and that is why I have slaughter four bulls as sign for peace acceptance. I have enjoyed the little pieces of peace. I will not abandon the SPLM/A for bringing peace in to Sudan with National Congress Party (NCP)”.

Within the welcoming for four counties commissioners many traditional dances were being done, and all music focus on peace shoulder. Three old ladies left unconquered with the New Sudan youth activities say by Mum (Aboba) Achol Marial. Thousand of children moved on street with the slogan for peace holding and wage to the commissioner eyes. Security were keeping smiling to the children and chatting to elders.

Mrs. Achol accused that youth for today, she has no confident on New Sudan youth, because they don’t keep promises with elders. They rally was very interested attended by youth and all communities leaders.

The commissioner for Rumbek East Mr. Martin Majak invited East Rumbek citizens to stop violence and inter-clan fighting and to respect the law. He also called Rumbek people to build their country. Majak further said that “peace is now attractive and we are looking forward to united Sudan, and people are still dealing with kill, I will not comply with that such a person who likes to kill his brother”.

He added “While we are on step for peace, we must to know what the future is for our children; as well education in Southern Sudan is pending a lot. Education in Southern Sudan ended with senior secondary school without university while Khartoum Government has universities”.
