President Afwerki inspects new Eritrean passenger ship
Feb 10, 2006 (MASSAWA) — The new big Eritrean passenger ship ?Harat’ purchased by the Eritrean Harat National Marine Transport Company arrived in Massawa today. President Isaias Afwerki later inspected the ship.
In the course of inspecting the passenger ship accompanied by Maj. General Hummed Mohamed Karikare, Commander of the Eritrean Naval Force, the President received briefings by its captain regarding the type and capacity of the ship.
?Harrat’ can accommodate 2,800 passengers.
The Eritrean government-owned ship would provide services to Asseb and the countries of the Middle East.
The 3-storey passenger ship is 118 meters long, 20 meters wide and has landing facility for helicopter.
