Salva Kiir returns to Juba after short visit to Kenya
Mar 2, 2006 (JUBA) — The first vice-president, Lt-Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit, arrived in Juba today after a short official visit to Nairobi, Kenya.
During his visit, he met the Kenyan president, Mwai Kibaki, and they discussed how the peace agreement could be implemented in Sudan, the pro-ruling National Congress Party reported.
The first vice-president also chaired the Southern Sudan government assembly meetings today.
Government of Southern Sudan Tuesday made a contribution of Kshs 75 million (1 mln dollar) towards the National Famine kitty.
President Mwai Kibaki received the donation on Wednesday 1 March from Justine Yac Arop, the cabinet affairs minister of the Government of Southern Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Lt-Gen Salva Kiir also checked on the health of his wife who is being treated in Nairobi.
