Sudanese ruling NCP is not serious in peace implementation – MP

Mar 3, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — A member of the Union of Sudan African Parties (USAP), Ufindi Ndima Fibel, has repeated accusations by other politicians that the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) is not serious in implementing the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

Fibel, who is also a member of the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly in Juba, claims that the NCP is playing what he calls – “delaying tactics and political manoeuvres.”

In an interview with Sudan Radio Service (SRS) last week in Khartoum, the MP urged all political parties in Sudan to put pressure on the NCP to allow the CPA to be implemented.

Fibel said “I feel that a lot needs to be done in terms of bringing pressure to bear on the NCP as a major partner because they are doing a lot of political manoeuvres with the SPLM.

They are really playing on the SPLM and I feel that a lot of things need to move the CPA forward. I say this because if you look nothing is taking off.”

The legislator also accused the NCP of not being serious in resolving the problems of Darfur and eastern Sudan and urged the government not to link the fate of the CPA with Darfur and eastern Sudan.
