Ministerial meeting held in Libya on Sudan-Chad tension

The Ministerial Committee formed by Tripoli Declaration, to contain tension between Sudan and Chad, held a meeting on Friday to follow up the realization of peace and cooperation and good neighborhood between Chad and the Sudan.

The Secretary of Foreign Liaison and international Cooperation said in a statement that the meeting covered the evaluation of the stance by the presentation of the peace and security commissioner at the AU Commission.

“ We also listened to the heads of the Sudanese and the Chadian delegations and took a decision to set up a monitoring team of the two countries borders, to quickly assume its work. There will also be military committees that would work quickly, and that the ministerial meeting would meet before the end of this month.” He explained.

The Secretary added ” The meeting was constructive, candid and detailed, and there would be steps on the ground during the coming days. We took decisions, measures and defined the dates and monitoring positions, as five positions inside the Chadian borders, and five positions inside the Sudanese borders were fixed. We also named the countries from which these teams would be formed as well as their mechanisms and place of their operations”.

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of the GPC for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation, and in the presence of the Secretary of the African Union Affairs at the Committee; minister of foreign affairs in Congo, the current chairman of the Executive Council of the African Union, Rodolphe Adada; minister of state and minister of Foreign Affairs and regional cooperation of Burkina, chairman of the Executive council of Cen-sad Community, Youssouf Ouedraogo; minister of state at the foreign ministry of Sudan, al-Samani al-Wasilla; Chad foreign minister, Mohamed Allami; Secretary General of the Cen-Sad Community, Dr. Mohamed al-Azhari, Peace and Security Council Commissioner at the AU Commission, Said Janet.

Sudanese ruling party says ready to run anticipated elections
Khartoum, Mar. 4 (SUNA) — President of the Republic and Chairman of the National Congress (NC), Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, announced that the NC is ready to contest any early elections if the political forces agreed on that even before the schedule stipulated in the peace agreement.

In this connection, the President expressed confidence that the NC would defeat all the political forces via ballots.

This came when the President addressed a function at a Mosque in Khartoum North Friday to welcome Sheikh Ali Ahmed Suliman, a notable figure in Khartoum North, in the ranks of the NC, describing that as a victory to the NC and its prograqmmes.

Meanwhile, the President pointed out that the cartoons that targeted the Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) came as part of targeting Islam and the Islamic nation, commending the Muslim’s reaction and indignation all over the world to this heinous insult to our honourable prophet.
