Kiir affirms SPLM commitment to consolidate peace and unity

Mar 18, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — First Vice President and Chairman of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, has reaffirmed the commitment of his movement to the national orientations aiming at the consolidation of peace and unity.

Salav_Kiir_3.jpgIn a meeting with the Minister of Local Government and Public Service, who represents the SPLM at the Government of Shamalia State, Mudathir Mohamed Ahmed, the First Vice President, praised the peaceful coexistence the state was now witnessing among the different social components.

On his part, Mohamed Ahmed said that they are abiding by the SPLM’s principles concerning transparency and dissemination of peace culture, adding that he conveyed to Kiir the greetings of his people of Shamalia State in Northern Sudan who, he said, extended an invitation for Kiir to visit the area.

Mohamed pointed out that Kiir accepted the invitation and promised to reply soon.
