Arab FMs approve summit’s agenda, Khartoum Declaration
Mar 26, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — Arab foreign ministers on Sunday approved the agenda of the Arab summit, to be held in the Sudanese capital on Tuesday, and referred the draft Khartoum Declaration to their leaders.
The top Arab diplomats, meeting under chairmanship of Sudanese foreign minister Lam Akol Ajawin, agreed to establish the Arab council for peace and security which is designed to use diplomacy to prevent conflicts between Arab countries.
But they did not approve a draft resolution on the establishment of the Arab Court of Justice (ACJ) and decided to postpone it to the next round to place the issue for further discussions.
The ministers approved the new voting modalities and now vital and crucial issues needed two thirds of member states, but the simple majority is needed to minor issues.
