OROMO LIBERATION FRONT

April 11, 2006 –On April 10, 2006, we received the shocking and saddening news of the plane crash in which several Kenyan leaders and other citizens were killed. I would like to express my deepest sympathy on behalf of myself and my organization; the Oromo Liberation Front, and the Oromo people on the tragic plane accident that took the lives of those outstanding Kenyan public leaders among whom the following parliamentarians and other government officials were included.

1. The Honorable Dr.Gurracha Boruu Galgaloo

2. The Honorable Mr. Abdi Taarii Saasuraa

3. The Honorable Dr. Bonayyaa Godaanaa

4. The Honorable Mr. Billow Kerow

5. The Honorable Mirugi Kariuki

6. The Honorable General Abdullahi Adan

7. The Honorable Dr. Wario Huka and

8. The Honorable Bishop William Wako

These leaders were esteemed throughout Kenya and beyond. Their untimely death is a great loss not to Kenyans alone but to all Africans. These leaders fought vigorously for peace and justice. The fact that they were on a peace mission when the horrific plane crash took place gives us hope that the communities affected and the Kenyan government will be more dedicated to complete the honorable work which they started. We hope that the peace mission will be pursued with more vigor and the communities will overcome all challenges to win peace and harmony among themselves once and for all. We also hope others will be inspired by their relentless service to their community and emulate their outstanding leadership qualities.

These were exemplary and selfless servants of their communities. We offer our condolences to the victims’ families, the communities they served and the Kenyan government and people and express our heartfelt wishes that they find peace and strength in remembrance of the outstanding contributions of these leaders to their fellow citizens.

Sincerely,

Dawud Ibsa,
Chairman, Oromo Liberation Front
