Establishment of the Sudan’s SPLM Women League in USA

Press Release

April 20, 2006 — The Adhoc Committee of the National SPLM Women League is hereby issuing this press statement, to announce the historic birth of the SPLM Women League – USA on March 5, 2006 in Clarksville, Tennessee. As stated in the Leadership Conference Resolutions, this adhoc committee was formed to facilitate the establishment of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement Women League (SPLMWL) throughout North America.

The founding mission of the SPLM Women League (SPLMWL) is to unite and empower Sudanese women within the SPLM leadership and for them to gain membership; with the vision of advocacy, political dialogue and practical involvement in the affairs of Sudan.

All women politically affiliated to Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Party are welcome and encouraged to join. Membership registration will be carried out throughout the country. Thus, those who want to take up active membership in the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement Women League (SPLMWL) are advised to register and report to their local chapters.
