Sudan, Chad sanction protocol to form joint military force along border

KHARTOUM, Nov. 07, 2003 — Sudan and Chad have agreed to sanction the Sudanese-Chadian military protocol to form a joint force in accordance with the security agreement.
This came about in accordance with the joint Sudanese-Chadian communiqué following the meeting held in the Chadian capital at the end of last month.
In the closing speech following the visit of the Chadian delegation headed by the Chadian minister of national defence, Gen Mahamat Nouri, the state minister at the Ministry of Interior, Ahmad Muhammad Harun, said the duties of the joint military forces included the prevention of smuggling operations and any hostile activities along the Sudan-Chad border.
