Sudanese government welcomes Darfur peace Agreement
May 7, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — The Sudanese cabinet during its routine meeting today chaired by President Omar al-Bashir, has welcomed the signing of the peace agreement on Darfur which was signed in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Sudanese government expressed its gratitude to the efforts exerted by the African Union, friendly and brotherly countries and the international community to realize peace in Darfur.
A spokesman for the cabinet and the secretary-general of the cabinet, Omar Mohamed Salih, said the cabinet reiterated the commitment of the government of national unity to realize peace in the entire country and bring about comprehensive and continuous development.
The cabinet appealed to the parties which have not signed the peace agreement to sign to strengthen stability in Darfur and give an impetus to development projects.
